With rising energy costs forcing up the cost of living, here’s four steps I want the Government to take to deliver a fair deal on fuel – and ease the pressure on my constituents:
- Scrap the 5p increase in Fuel Duty planned for September – we found the money to freeze fuel duty every single one of our 14 years in Government
- Treat Heating oil customers fairly – In particular, preventing cancellation of contracts that have already been paid for
- Cut energy bills - I’m supporting our policy to Axe the Carbon Tax, and cut energy bills for businesses and households
- Reopen the North Sea – We should be drilling our own oil and gas, to maximise our sovereign energy security
