James Cartlidge MP Whatfield Primary

James Cartlidge went to Whatfield then Bildeston primary schools last Friday (January 15).

Headteacher Lynne Golding said: “I think he was impressed by the fact both schools have a lot going on, a lot going for them and it was interesting just to be able to speak to him.

“We have in both schools a school council and they are elected and they have some idea of the process of elections so they were very interested to ask him about his election.

“He was very natural, very nice and responded well to the children.”

Mr Cartlidge said: “Following the election I pledged to visit all of the schools in South Suffolk within my first year in parliament.

“I made this pledge because I think it is incredibly important that I have a solid grasp on the quality of education provided in our area and what I can do to support our educators in their work.

“I have been very impressed by the quality and dedication of the teachers in all of the schools that I have visited so far.

“I am fully committed to ensuring that the young people of South Suffolk are provided with the best possible start in life.

“Access to the highest standard of education is a crucial component of this goal.”
