The headteacher of a high school in Suffolk has said that she is "delighted" that planning permission has been granted to redevelop the school.
Hadleigh High School near Ipswich will undergo a major change after Babergh District Council approved plans for a new main building and sports hall.
The project, being delivered through the Department for Education's School Rebuilding Programme, includes a new teaching block, sports hall and multi-use games areas, alongside landscaping, new parking, boundary improvements and the installation of ground source heat pumps.
Nicola Shingleton, Headteacher at Hadleigh High School, said: "We're delighted that planning permission has now been approved for the redevelopment of Hadleigh High School.
"This is a really exciting milestone for our school and the wider community.
"This investment will provide our students and staff with modern, high-quality facilities that will support teaching, learning and wellbeing for years to come.
"We'd like to thank everyone who has supported the project so far, and we look forward to continuing to work with our partners as the redevelopment progresses.
"We'll share further updates with our school community as the project moves forward."
James Cartlidge, MP for South Suffolk, said: "I’m absolutely delighted that Hadleigh High School has been granted full planning permission for their brand-new teaching block and Sports Hall.
"The school will be completely rebuilt to a higher specification, making it eco-friendly and more comfortable to work in.
"This project is happening alongside the complete rebuilds of Ormiston Academy Sudbury and East Bergholt High School, so it’s really good news for education locally – resulting in better results and better education across South Suffolk."
