I want to hear your views on social media and its effects on children and young people.
I have been contacted by hundreds of my concerned constituents about the impact of social media and as a parent myself, I also worry about whether my children will feel safe both online and offline.
We all want children to have a fulfilling childhood, learning the skills that they’ll need for the future while staying protected in the digital world. While most children have a positive experience online, I share concerns about the impact of harmful and age-inappropriate content.
Thanks to Conservative leadership, and welcome cross-party support, Parliament has recently taken an important step to protect children online. The amendment in the Children's Wellbeing and Schools Bill, which looks to take children under the age of 16 off social media, was passed in the Lords in January, despite opposition from the Government.
Parliament has taken this important step to protect children online, but this is not the end of the process, as there will now be a vote in the House of Commons.
Ahead of this vote, I want to hear what you think, so please complete my survey below to have your say.
